Yippe it's Wednesday again!!!

So what's on your Workdesk this Wednesday??
There's piles of Christmas Stash on mine.
Although really there's not that much there. I promise ;) I have it sorted into 12x12 and A4 sheets of paper, Christmas coloured Alphas and large packs of Journal stickers in a large project box. Smaller cut off of PP into a smaller box, sparkly bits and bobs I have collected over the year and Embellishments I have already made (like the ones below) more Journaling tags and some smaller packs of Christmas stickers. I then have a fabric box holding ribbons, string and lace. My JYC book is sat on my trimmer next to some Journaling envelopes for Sam and Zoe. and Ralph Bear is watching guard over it all (in the far right of the photo).
I had a slight change of mind about the felt hearts and decided to use them on mini envelopes that I have chopped the sticky part off and half punched a circle in the top, then added some ribbons and papers the felt hearts on their scalloped circles and finally I added a journal tab inside. all ready to be written on and stuck in the book each day.
I took this photo of the babies this morning after they had been feed. Maggie is doing a wonderful job with them and they are all growing nice and chubby. there are more photos on my other blog if you fancy a look. I'm off out with Sam tonight to see New Moon again :)

Making love hearts

I fancied a little felt work today. So popped into town after work and picked up two sheets of 50p felt, and well worth a £1 it was. I've had a lovely evening cutting, punching, sewing and sticking :)

I used some Parcel paper, Newspaper and shimmer card for the scallop shapes and other bits and bobs I had in my scraps box for the circle centres. I cut all the small hearts out on my sidekick (happily they went through without a problem because my BigShot is at work under my desk) and then sewed a little button on. the Larger Heart I drew out freehand and then traced onto the felt. it's stuffed with cotton wool and back stitched all around the edges.
I intend to use most of them in my JYC like this.
I might drop a few around to Sam and Zoe if they like them :)

Back to work tomorrow

I'm back to work tomorrow after having a week off with Maggie and the puppies. I'd quite happily stay at home with them for the next seven weeks but I'm afraid that's not going to happen :(
So I made the most of my last day and crafted :) well what else!!! Last week I cut all the pages for my JYC book and today I started faffing with them. I didn't want to do too much to each day as I like to see what photos I'm using on the day before choosing my papers. but I'm just feeling so Christmassy at the moment I needed to get started on it and make some pages for busy day's.

I also printed out some year round up cards and a few new journal blocks (made using word)

I'm so looking forward to taking part in this class again this year and I can't wait to get the dec's out next week :)
I did my craft classes at Rainbows and Brownies this evening. the classes went well the girls seemed to enjoy themselves and I'm totally shattered!!! :)
So pleased I'm not a uniformed leader anymore I don't think I have the energy to do that every week.

Team Jacob

After last night :)
I'm a very happy lady!!
New Moon
was amazing!!!!
It was just how I imagin it would be :) and I am totally in lust with Jacob!
How bad is that he is a 16 year old werewolf and I adore him! No more Edward for me :)
It's Jacob all the way...... Sorry Trav ;)
I just need to find this T-shirt now in Fat size and I'll be even happier :)
Sam and I are off again on Wednesday for a second viewing.

SLYMI week 47

I'm right up to date with my Scrap Like You Mean It Challenge from Shimelle. Here's this weeks LO which is Scrap with Leaves or Trees.

HISTREE WALK
I printed this photo off ages ago but wasn't sure how I wanted to scrap it. Over coffee this morning I had a flick through some older copies of ST and decided to "scrap lift" a LO from the July issue on page 23. I have used Crate paper PP some October afternoon journal stickers and Alphas, some Adornit stickers and doodlebug run on's. I'm really into mixing up fonts at the moment.

I'm off to see New Moon this afternoon with Sam and Zoe.
Can't wait!!!!!!!

Saturday.....

was a very good day :)
I can't dwell on the fact that My job will be no more at the end of March. I will think about that after Christmas, there's plenty of time to worry then. right now I need to be clear headed and happy to help Maggie rear these babies into strong, healthy, happy puppies.

Today I left Trav on puppy duty and took the day off! I went over to my friend Sam's house and we altered our £5 advent calendars. We painted them the other night and spent the day today gluing, sanding and stamping. I used a selection of Stampin' Up papers and loads of bits and pieces out of my JYC box. the white trim ont he roof is from Sam :) and the stamps for the numbers are also Sam's. I'm over the moon with how both Sam's and mine have turned out I think I might have to take another trip to Tesco to pick up a couple more for two little people I know.
Whoop Whoop!!!
New Moon tomorrow :)

Thursday

was not a good day!

Yesterday it all seemed to go wrong :( first thing when I came downstairs, as I always do I check on Maggie and the puppies. I knew straight away something was wrong and after fighting with death for four hours finally I had to let him take one of my babies. I'm very sad that we lost her but I did everything I could, she just wasn't strong enough to hold on and it was the kindest thing I could do for her.
Maggie doesn't seem to have noticed that she is missing a baby, she is far too involved in the other seven. Which is a good thing a greaving bitch is not what you need when she has a lfour day old litter to take care of.
If that wasn't bad enough yesterday afternoon I was called into work to a meeting in which we were told that our service is no longer necessary and the council will not be funding us next year. Although they didn't say it quite like that, that was the general jist of the meeting. Funding runs out in March and we have to have something sorted for the children we work with by then (which really isn't as easy as it sounds as these children can't go to mainstream school due to many varied reasons) and find ourselves new jobs in an education system that is in a state of change (the schools on the island are in the process of changing from a three tier to a two tier and loads of teaching and support staff are going to be out of jobs). It's really not a good time to be looking for work in education on the island. So maybe I'm off to Tesco???
Today will be a better day!!!!!
I have Zoe over to craft (while we wait for her cat to be "De-Tommed") and a lush basket of puppies to watch :) Gracie gives the best cuddles and I also have a large bar of chocolate int he fridge thanks to Trav :)

Blogger Award

I would like to say thank you to Carmen from Whoopidoo...ings for this award .

I have to list five things I am obsessed with at the moment and then pass the award on to a few other blogs. So here goes.

I am obsessed with...

Crafting - I can't seem to find enough hours in the day to sit and my desk and just make things. I find if I haven't at least sat and played with a few bits of paper during the evening I'm in a bad mood for the whole of the next day.

Craft shopping - mmmmm maybe just shopping in general really. I have a real problem with needing things now!!! Thankfully Trav is really understanding and removes my credit card :)

My Dogs - my dogs are my children, I could spend all day every day with my mutleys and never be bored or lonely, they cheer me up when I'm sad and cuddle me when I'm poorly. they love me as much (if not more) than I love them and they are never cross or upset with me. I can't remember a time when i haven't had a dog or three in the house and I would never want to not have one (or more). There are people who don't understand how I can love something with four legs and hair so much. Well it's easy really!!

Food - all food any food all the time!!! My waist band tells this tale of woe quite bluntly!

Reading - I love a good book. but have a little problem in as much that If I fall in love with the characters in the book I won't put it down. While reading the Twilight series it was the norm for me to return home from work at 3pm sort the dogs and settle down to read. you would still find me in the same seat hours later reading..... no tea cooked....... no housework done..... reading until maybe 4am. grabbing two hours sleep and starting the next day at 6am.... dogs , work, reading. It's very bad I know! the problem I find with this is I'm then left without these characters I have grown to love when the book ends. :(

Now here comes the passing it on bit. Alissa Kristina Natty & the meanest Mom I love all of these blogs and visit them everyday if I can to see what wonderful new things have been posted.

Painting the Advent

I just wanted to share with you how nicely these Advent calendars cover with paint. I tried Reeves acrylic paints first just because..... but they aren't the best paint. I could quickly see that I was going to have to put at least four layers of paint using these. once the first coat had dried I changed over to my Adirondack dabbers. I used a paint brush rather than the dabber but they covered really nicely (and I didn't have to sand them) I used Lettuce green and red pepper on the draws.
But to cover the Father Christmas on the house I had to go back to the original paint as the colour matched better. it's all ready now for me to start altering with PP. I used low tack tape to get such a straight edge for the roof.

I have posted some piccy's of the puppies here on my other blog.

WO my two WDW?

Just call me two desks Lumpkin ;) well it's not quite true as one of the desks was taken over by my lovely friend T'. She came over today to "show" me how to make an apron out of a lovely red and white spotty vinyl table cloth I bought from Next. I'm very pleased to say I managed to talk her into making the whole thing for me as I dread to think what it would have looked like if I had taken control of the sewing machine. T was born behind a sewing machine and was right at home there. Me on the other hand.......... well lets just say the blooming thing scares me to death with it's jabbing needle and twisty turny dials that mean absolutely nothing at all to me!!!!

Workdesk #1I have a most beautiful apron for cooking, painting and grooming my doglets in. Nice and easy to clean and it should stop all the dogs hairs weaving themselves into my bra (which is a nasty side effect of being a part time dog groomer). I'm over the moon with it and have added two ladybirds to it (photos of me in it to follow I promise :)

Workdesk #2

post painting desk! I was totally amazed yesterday during a trip to Tesco to find they were stocking these lovely advents for just £5. Now I had seen them on UKS but never in my wildest dreams did i think our Tesco on the island would dream of stocking them, But how wrong was I! Sam and I both bought one and tomorrow we plan to spend the evening altering them. so today's job is painting!!!

I also started my JYC book on Monday evening in between puppies arriving (well you can't just sit and watch the poor girl for 12 hours). The book itself is made and all I will have to do each day is add PP photos and some journaling.
each day will look something like this
other news; my boss phoned me this morning and it looks like the service I work for is being closed! Bugger!!!! I have only been there three months. we aren't sure yet of the details and no-one has been told how long we will have jobs for but it looks bad :( I hate hunting for jobs!!!!

On a nicer note: Carmen has given me a blog award today so I will post about that tomorrow. Thank you Carmen :)

No crafting today .....

..........Just watching and sleeping.
As I arrived home yesterday afternoon Maggie presented me with a puppy!
Ummm!!!!
they are three days early!!!!!
Why now?????

You all know me I'm either Miss Organised... Miss List.... or Miss Planned.

Never never never Miss Panicked! well yesterday I was that women!!!! I was no where near ready for these little dears to arrive. I had no towels washed and ready no bedding waiting to be used. No lists and whelping sheets printed. She took me totally by shock!
However was first puppy cleaned dried and weighed in, lists printed, washing machine on and spare towels found. I was ready for puppy number two a good half an hour before she chose to arrive.
Thankfully the other dogs were happy to miss their walk and wait for their dinner until Daddy came home, while Maggie and me got down to the important stuff. between 3.55pm and 12.15am Maggie whelped 8 beautiful, healthy puppies. I waited up until 2.30am with her cleaning and tidying around her and the pups. I then lay awake on the sofa listening to make sure everyone was ok.
(I took this piccy just before Number eight arrived)

Today I have pretty much tried to catch up on my missing sleep, although I'm still a little light headed I'm a very happy Nanny :)
Maybe some crafting tomorrow?

Cropping with friends

I had fun yesterday at the crop. It was a longer than normal day as we arrived at 9am and Sam and I were late in finishing our last LO's so a small group of us didn't leave until just before 5pm. that's one of the joys of having a hall community member in your crop group :) Even with the extra time I don't think I got an awful lot done. I had already covered this book and started adding some photos to it. at Lunch I was bored with it so changed over to making LO's

Crafting and Cup Cakes
and this one
Times to Remember (SLYMI wk 45)
I finished this one On Friday evening. It's a re-scrap of a LO I did almost two years ago and was never happy with at the time I was still angry with my mum for not accepting our move to the Island and was not able to put a title or journalling on. now the move issues are all under the bridge and we are friends again I wanted to complete the LO and Like it! I do Like it now and It's this weeks SLYMI- Thank you

I'm working on a secret project at the moment. So can't really show you more than this. I need to do some cooking before I can finish up with these three sets of legs :)

WOYWW?

Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday?
Today is six years on :)
And I thought it was about time I made a wedding album for Trav and Myself :) Sadly we aren't together today to celebrate our wedding anniversary as Trav is in Oxford with his eldest son, Michael who had a back operation yesterday. But we do have plans to celebrate together at the weekend. With trav away I have had a few days to myself and the dogs. I've spent time with friends and pretended to make cards (Three rather unsuccessful efforts are hiding in my cut off box). Celebrated a litter of puppies first birthday by going to Willows party with Gracie-Lou. We all wore party hats and had cake and attended two dance workshops at BBC Blast. if you have a teenager and Blast come to your area make sure you get them booked in on some of the workshops! They are great!!! I took one of the young people I work with today and he and I had a great time.
So back to my desk and my planned wedding album.

I haven't started it here in the piccy's as I wanted to blog and then settle down to an evening of sticking, before True Blood starts at 10. The album I'm using is a Maya Road Coaster album I think??? (I've had it a while). I'm going to cover each coaster in Herma (that's the white roll on the left) and them use some of the papers I have left from my Costco pack. all deep plums and reds.

You might have seen this little chap on the first photo. he has pride of place in front of my monitor. His name is Ralph and his job is to guard my jelly babies.
Isn't he just totally adorable!!! He arrived safely packed in his little box from Annie at A Stitch in Time she also has a ladybird and I would love for Ralph to have a little lady friend. I can see me having to make another order soon :)
off in a bit to see what everyone else has on their desks. have a good Wednesday

What do you do with yours?

Scrap pieces of paper that is!
Julia over on Stamping Ground asked her blogland interweb visiters this question and I thought I would answer via my blog. So I store all my cut offs here, in this 12x12 plastic project box. it lives on my shelves along with my CS, any planned projects, printed photos and my Christmas stash box.
When it gets full (so I can't get the lid on) I make myself sit down and make cards, using only what scraps I have and card blanks. It looks like I'm due a card making session soon. However after a tidy up and a slight re-arrange on my desk I now have an empty draw underneath my 'puter monitor. So I'm transferring all my snips of paper into this draw and freeing up the 12x12 box for other stash.
My desk is so tidy even I'm amazed!!! I think I might have to get the glue and glitter out tonight and see if I can't make a little mess :)

and finally I'll leave with my winter friend. He only joins me at my scrap table when it's just too cold and wet outside. Vinnie my lovely old tom cat is an outside cat at heart and rarely ventures into the domain of the canines but all this wet weather we have been having of late has made him a little poorly so it's inside now for food and warmth until spring comes.

WOYWW?

Preparation for a class at Brownies.
I'm cheating a little here as it's Tuesday evening while I'm writing this post as I'm off out to dinner Wednesday evening with a friend and know I won't get chance to post.
Today before and after work I'm pretty much spending time getting kits ready for the Rainbows and Brownies of Wootton Bridge, to make Christmas cards (Rainbows) and Minibooks (Brownies). I thought it would be easier if I cut all the papers to size and they could just do the folding and sticking as I only have my woodware trimmer and trying to share that amongst 15 8 year old girls would be an impossible task.
I have also stamped a ton of christmassy images that the rainbows can colour and cut before sticking onto pre-cut Christmas papers and then sticking to the cards. The box above is the Rainbows card stash and the box below is filled with 20 kits of Christmas minibooks. and yes they are forever friends Christmas papers but that's what he girls wanted so that's what I bought. The classes are next Monday. I hope everything goes to plan!
keep your fingers crossed for me please.
