Flowers pretty flowers

Sam came over to play on Thursday and we had a go at making Tim Holtz type roses. we didn't have any of those lovely distressing products so we just dug deep into our stash found papers that looked rose coloured with very little patterns, I tipped all my inks on to the table and we snipped, curled and inked to our hearts content. I also bared the soul of my junk cupboard to Sam in order to find my glue gun. I was almost shamed into cleaning it out..... but that can wait for another day :)

By the end of the afternoon, using this Youtube Video as a guide we had both made two roses that we were very happy with. they might not be made with grunge paper and all the wonders of distress ink, but I love them and set about covering two little Kraft boxes for them to adorn.

I have glued a strip of folded CS to the lid and base of each box, then added a selection of Black and white photos of my family. One of these boxes will be for my grt-Aunts 90th Birthday and the other I'm giving to my Mum. Who seems to have had a turn around about my crafting....... she now loves it???

I've been off work for the last few days waiting for Suki-Su to whelp her litter she's been keeping me waiting (although I think tonight is the night), while waiting I have been keeping busy at my table. This morning I made these 6 roses.
I think I might try making some smaller ones next.

WWC weekly challenge and a Card

This LO is the first for the weekly challenge over on mine and Sam's Wight Craft Circle Blog. Scrap with Us or SWU (in a very Shimelle kind of manner).

The Challenge I pulled out of the hat this week was Be Musical and as I'm not (Musical that is). I thought to do a LO about my beloved iPod.

I used manly scraps of PP left over from the retreat weekend and just one sheet of MAMBI paper along with a sheet of Bazzill. It's hard to see the photos as both my dock and iPod are black. I used the sewing machine plenty on this LO, now she sits beside my desk I tend to use her much more these days. I used some new lace from Ebay and 3 little lacey daisy's also from Ebay
-0-
I then set about making a birthday card for a very good friend of mine who is totally in love with the Twilight films and books (just like me)
The paper range is from MME and is the spiders web set (i think) the little vampire has been covered in frosted lace Stickles so he will sparkle in the sunlight on her window sill. Just as all vampires should :)
Inside the card reads
"You might be addicted to Twilight"
"Have a Fangtastic Birthday"

WOYRW

I thought I would show you all a piccy of my retreat Desk today instead of my home (same O'l Same O'l) desk today. This was taken about 7.30am on Sunday morning. I had one more panel of Euans's wall hanging to finish from the night before (I gave up scrapping at 2.30am Sunday morning).

Not really much different on this desk to be honest than my home desk, my mat is my folding one saved for retreats and crops only. it's A2 but folds in half to fit in my shoulder tote. My coffee cup from Starbucks is keeping my bean juice warm in the far side of the desk. and there's a sneaky bag of caramel chocolates in the middle of the desk to share with my desk chum Alison.

I made this card on Monday morning for my lovely hubby who was 47 yesterday. we went out for a beautiful meal at the Priory bay Hotel last night. it was awfully posh! I am pleased we dressed up a bit ;)

A few more piccy's from the retreat.
This is me getting Papp'd by the girls :)
Me and Alison (she of the little blue hut)

and me with my bestest island scrapping chums :)
Sam and her sister Zoe.

Retreat makings.

Back from Totland and this is what I made while there. I didn't get anywhere near as much done this time as the last one but I think it's something to do with my lack of good photos at the moment. Sam and I were talking and it's the same with her. We haven't been able to get out and do "anything" lately, well nothing worth taking photos of anyway.
But Still I managed three wall hangings and six LO's.

I'm in love with the "Paper Doll Dress Up" cart from Cricut and the lovely Alison has lent me her's until I buy my own. It was so much fun making these wall hangings and I'm sure they will be enjoyed by my niece's little fellows and Alison's son.

My LO's

Kirsten with (her step son) Jake, Lucie with Jack.
Jack

Trav took these in Jan 2010 while at work.

Us on Xmas morning
I scraplifted this from the cover of scrapbook Trends (March Issue)

Me and my chum Trina

Jack's first steps. I'm a little upset with the bendy paper it's from using glimmer mist for the first time I might have been a little over the top with how much I used???

RETREAT... RETREAT!!!!

And no not coz there's an enemy approaching! because this time we didn't invite anyone nasty to spoil our weekend of craftiness and cake at Totland Bay. Friday I'm off to collect Sami in the morning we are spending a few hours buying up all the glue refils on the island and gathering seeds and berries (that's 2010 speak for chocolate and cake) and then we are heading out to Totland to meet the rest of the WCC ladies for the whole weekend. I've written about three lists now of things I need to remember to pack/buy/find and my craft space is looking so much like a dumping ground that's it's driving me insane. I keep passing something and think Oh I must take that so drop it on the desk to pack later and the "dropped" pile is getting larger!!!

My three mini totes are packed and ready
(mustn't forget to send that package back to next)

This pile is slightly more hectic as I'm just pushing stuff into the wheeled tote knowing it's all going to have to come out to be repacked once everything is gathered together. There's two birthday gifts that I need to remember to take along, my cricut is already there in it's Tesco sack still packed up from the crop at the weekend. My paper store and shoulder tote are also gathered but are still at risk of a resorting.
On the desk it's pure hell. there's stuff everywhere and I really need to take the time to sort through it all. I can't cope with this much stuff piled up all over the place. Thank heavens Trav is taking all the crafting equipment over in his van it would never fit int eh car along with me, Sam and our travel bags! not forgetting all that Cake!!!!!

Back in the mood

It's been a few weeks since I really felt like creating anything really. what with a chest infection (which is still hanging about) and then being given the confirmation that I will be out of work before the end of March (better get job hunting), trips the hospital to visit a poorly friend I've really had the craftiness ripped from me. but this weekend I got back in the grove and completed these six Lo's I'm not over the moon with some of them but at least I'm making again :)

This was the first LO I had made in weeks. It's a photo of my niece's little chap Jack.
You just gotta love that cute little dino chipboard shape :)
I'm still thinking of a title for this LO of my youngest niece and her partner.
Another KP Lo, all wrapped up ready for a winter walk.

My first Beebee LO.
a second Jack Lo completed at the crop on Saturday.

This one I did on Sunday it's a scraplift from SB trends Magazine.

I've also printed off a ton of photos ready for the Retreat next weekend and I can honestly say I'm really looking forward to spending the whole weekend away from any responsibilities and relaxing with the WCC ladies. Sorry if I haven't been by your blog lately and left any comments Ive been feeling a little anti-computer as well ;) Hopefully I'm fully back on track and will be catching up on all I have missed over the past two weeks soon.

Show me your drawers!!! or WOYWW?

So a change of theme this week from Julia (well that is If i understood last weeks post). this week we are delving deeper into each others crafting space and going behind closed drawers! My desk it's self has no draws as it's just a glass top on carpenters legs, but I have two little IKEA bedside tables either side of the desk for extra work space. Each of these has a draw and here they are opened.

This one sits to my left and holds Stamping blocks, glue runners refills, new blades for my cricut, raised glue dots and my black stazon. there is also a new bottle of Glossy Accents waiting to be transferred over to my tote as soon as the old one has died. This table sits to my right, this is where my cricut lives, nice and close within reach (means I use it so much more because i don't have to get it out of the cupboard or move far to use it). Inside is mostly stuff I don't use much tissues a few spare ink blocks and a random piece of string. the wet wipes also live in here.
On my desk under my computer monitor is a mini set of drawers. the top one holds paper scraps for card making, and the bottom one is filled with "stuff" you know the kind of "stuff" you know you will need one day but are not sure when that day will be. there also more glue runner refills here (I buy them in bulk at the start of each month and store them all over the place). The little china plate you can just see on the top of these drawers I made (well painted) last year at a friends leaving party. I use it for holding little tools I'm using right now. So my trimmer blades live here with a rubber or two, a few large needles, a tape measure, my glue runner and a few stray ladybugs.

This is my main storage area that might be classed as a draw replacement? my table tote. I keep all my favourite tools in here and it goes everywhere with me, and being super organised means I know just where each tool is when I want to use it. every tool is replaced straight after I used it (not at the end of the project) I lose things very easily and as long as I put them back I know I can find them. all my writing tools are in one pocket, cutting things in another. I have big pens in one space, glue and GA in another pocket while files, brushes bones and spoons (yes spoons) live together, There is also a pocket for mini alpha transfers and my favourite rubon tool.
Inside I keep my chomper at hand, a couple of rolls of DST, a large paper filing block and a pack of new ribbons and laces just coz I'm using them a lot at the mo.

so that's it for me today. I'm back at work (I think) this morning, so once I'm done for the day I'll pop by to visit your craft spaces.
Ta ra!

Document 2010 -January

In true "Do it your own way" crafting I set about my Document 2010 minibook today. I wanted to get my pages for January done while the month was still fresh in my mind. Although I really like the idea of a end of month round up I don't really want to build a whole 12x12 album on the subject, a nice fat minibook is much more my style.

Page one; I picked four photos from this month (three happen to be the dogs and one is of some stamps I bought). Page two is a Kraft envelope filled with tickets, receipts and other bits I've gathered over the month. I've already cut all the other months and decorated each envelope ready.
For the middle pages I added a date stamp and some other pretty stickers to the back of the envelope to hide a closure magnet. The calendar card is from Ellies Studio I have circled dates that stand out for me this month.

My favourite photo of the month is attached to the back of the calendar card and I have journaled over some pretty snips of paper and a journal block.

I also went through the whole book and stamped all the months on each set of tabs and added the magnets to each envelope.
